A competition hosted by Barclays sought to find a scalable marque to denote trust and security in a world in which data privacy is essential - should be understood and applied across different media and all around the world. This is not to be designed specifically for Barclays but for all companies wishing to prove their reliability in data privacy.
A crucial part of the brief was to make the marque scalable, and remain legible when enlarged 500x and reduced 500x. For this reason it was particularly successful.

Ensuring the logo works at a small scale

Communicating the idea of concealing, the winning mark was inspired by the things that provide comfort and security in day-to-day life. The things I had been noticing around me caused me to think about familiar shapes to everyone, regardless of language or culture. The icon is physically similar to man-made devices, such as the profile of an ATM or from above a polling booth - but also natural features, like the mouth of a cave or a honeycomb.
